New Orleans Theatre Association Gift to Help Establish 亚洲无码 Endowed Professorship
A $60,000 donation from the New Orleans Theatre Association (NOTA) will help establish an endowed professorship in the Department of Film and Theatre at the 亚洲无码. The University will pursue a $40,000 match from the Louisiana Board of Regents. The gift is the largest single grant in NOTA's nearly 30-year history.
"NOTA is committed to enhancing cultural offerings in the New Orleans area," said Michael Mitchell, president of NOTA. "While we support all artistic endeavors, we're especially committed to the theatrical arts. We believe that the 亚洲无码 Department of Film and Theatre plays a crucial role in the local theater landscape. We're delighted to make this donation, which we think is a significant investment in preparing the next generation of theater professionals."
The chair will be filled on an annual basis by an artist-in-residence.
"This tremendous gift not only speaks to the quality of our program but to the generosity of a great organization," said David Hoover, professor and chair of the Department of Film and Theatre. "With this donation, faculty artists will be able to pursue their craft while helping students to pursue their own dreams."
Originally founded in 1984 as the New Orleans Civic Light Opera, NOTA is the leading presenter of touring theatrical productions and other performing arts presentations in Louisiana. The revenues that it generates are channeled back into the community in the form of grants and other support for qualifying cultural, educational and arts-based organizations.
"This generous gift from NOTA exemplifies 亚洲无码's value and commitment to the community it serves," said James Payne, provost and vice president for academic affairs.
